Spanielliv i Norge med Lawson Vallery

Från en spanielkollega har vi fått text och bildmaterial som handlar om jakt med spaniel på andra sidan Kölen. Det är om jakt som vi själva inte har så mycket kunskap om, men det är alltid intressant att ta del av andras erfarenheter. Här berättar Lawson Vallery med egna ord.

This is Red Garlic's Desert 13 months old. I call her Dasy and I have her for training. Her mother is Tilda and her dad is Reckless

The story is a neighbour of mine is a sheep farmer and year after year hundreds of geese move in and soil the grass just before he puts the new lambs out, so this year he got permission to begin shooting them in April and that's my job. Yesterday a flock were sitting about 70m out in the lake and I had Dasy with me, so bang. So I walked to the water's with her, said fetch and she retrieved something she had never seen in her life, that weighed 7 kilos. Agneta is very proud of her.

 

One day last October I had one of the greatest goose hunting days of my life. The weather was bright and clear and even though it took some time but I managed to shoot 6 Canada geese with the rifle you see in the foto at distances from 90 to 130 meters. The Springer on my right is Torras Harrow Sweet ( Heather ) and the cocker is Mailscot Kraka ( Chance ) both grand retrievers but on this day they really outdid themselves. Can you imagine me and two dogs crawling up to a 100 meters through the underbrush several times in order to get a clear shot. Anyway the long and the short of the story is they had done such a wonderful job, so that when we came home I awarded them both with the gold medals they deserved and worked so hard for.

Det visar sig att Lawson Vallery, som den spanielentusiast han är, också jagar annat med spaniel. Alltså, till exempel klövvilt. Lawson Vallery's egna ord igen.

 

I use my Springer for everything including rådyr. In fact five times in 2003 she managed to catch and take down wounded rådyr during ettersøk
